This brings back memories of taekwondo in 2nd grade lol. I went for two hours every Tuesday and Thursday. The owner had a local chain of about 4 or 5 dojos. They were all located in strip malls except for one big standalone dojo (the original dojo) that served as headquarters. On the first Saturday of the month every student from every dojo would meet at the headquarters for advancement testing. If you passed every time you would advance a color every two months. You'd get the solid belt, a month later you'd test to get a piece of tape of the next color around the tip, the next month you'd test for the full colored belt and so on. They started small, but every time you tested for a higher color the fees went up...way up. The white belt test was free, and then it was like $10 to test for a yellow belt, $20 for an orange belt, $40 for a green belt, and they just kept doubling it. If you stuck with it long enough to test for black, the test was over $1000. There was no additional fee to test for the tip, so you had to pay an extra cost every two months. Anyway, you had to wait for your number to be called before you went in front of the instructors for your test; and you were usually there 3-4 hours on average. These testing events were where the black belts got to show off for everyone's entertainment. They'd do light sparring with each other, and they'd do kata onstage screaming just like that girl lol. I dreamed of the day I'd be a black belt and would get to do a screaming kata in front of 300 bored 6-12 year olds, but I only made it about 8 months, achieving the rank of green belt w/blue tip. I'm pretty sure it was around the time I got the green belt that my parents started trying to talk me out of taekwondo and into school sports; because they were beginning to realize just how expensive it was going to get as I continued to climb the ranks. I'm glad they did, because my memories of playing sports in school from the age of 9-18 are priceless and I wouldn't give them up for anything. Ranking system for this particular McDojo was: White White w/yellow tip Yellow Yellow w/orange tip Orange Orange w/green tip Green Green w/blue tip Blue Blue w/purple tip Purple Purple w/brown tip Brown Brown w/red tip Red Red w/black tip Black

If you are going to let them hit you DONT hit them 1st. They will take whatever level of malice you put into your punch and Double it back into theirs, they also hit waay better. Gotta think about it like sparring.
